AI Wave, or AI Slave?

We use AI only where it clearly helps with safety. Your personal data is not fed into a black-box system to profile you.
We use AI with limits
We have not packed Winklr with AI for the sake of it.
Your data is not being sent through a model to build hidden assumptions about who you are.
Where AI is used
We do use AWS Rekognition to review uploaded media for clear community guideline breaches. This includes:
- Nudity in public albums
- Weapons
- Drug use
- Hate content
Why we made this choice
We use Rekognition mainly to speed up moderation.
It helps us catch obvious breaches faster, so action is quicker and the app stays responsive.
Our rule is simple: use AI where it improves safety, and avoid it where it creates privacy risk.
A note on regulation
There are ongoing UK and EU discussions around "Chat Control" proposals, which could affect messaging rules in future.
If rules change, they are likely to apply across the whole industry, not just Winklr. We cannot control that directly, but we will explain any impact clearly.
